Product Introduction


HARDLEN ® CY-9122P is a product developed by Toyo Textile with its unique technology. This type of product has excellent adhesion performance to polyolefin substrates.


HARDLEN ® CY-9122P is a low molecular weight chlorinated polyolefin modified with a special acid, which has good compatibility with other resins.


HARDLEN ® CY-9122P is generally used in the base paint of PP/EPDM automotive bumpers, and can achieve excellent adhesion effect without any pre-treatment (such as plasma flame, solvent surface treatment).

Key Features


·Excellent adhesion can be achieved on PP/EPDM substrates without any surface treatment.


·There is excellent interlayer adhesion between primer and topcoat (especially polyester amino baked paint or polyurethane coating).


·It can make the topcoat have excellent water resistance, gasoline and alcohol resistance (especially polyester amino baking paint).  


·Has good compatibility with some resins.


·Easily soluble in appropriate solvents such as toluene, xylene, or aromatic hydrocarbon solvents.




Instructions for use


·Dissolution method


·Mixing is a very important factor for particles to dissolve in solvents.


·Particles have a higher specific gravity compared to solvents such as toluene, making them more prone to precipitation.


·Suggest using a blender to dissolve particles.  


·Dissolution program


·Pour the solvent, such as toluene, into the dissolution tank.


·While stirring, add the particles to the solvent and protect them with nitrogen gas.


·Heat the mixture to 30 ℃ to 50 ℃.


·Take a small amount of solution and apply it to a glass plate for observation. If there are no granular substances, it can be determined as the dissolution endpoint.


·Add 1% (based on the total weight of the solution) of tetrahydrofuran (THF) or butyl cellulose solubilizer (BCS).


·Filtering solution: It is recommended to use upright "10 μ bag filters" and "10 μ cylinder filters" to avoid trace contamination.




Application field


Dilute the solution and spray it directly onto the PP substrate. After baking, apply the topcoat and mix it with other resins to make the base coat. The compatibility with the resin must be considered.




dosage


·As a base coat, dissolve to a concentration of 20-30% and dilute 5-10 times with toluene/xylene solvent.


·The solvent has a concentration of 20-30%, and when added to the resin, 5-10% of the total amount should be added, considering compatibility.




Construction steps (laboratory)


·Clean the surface of PP/EPDM substrate with isopropanol.  


·Apply primer (dry film thickness: 10-15 μ m).


·Flash evaporation at room temperature for 5 minutes.


·Dry at 80 ℃ for 10 minutes.


·Apply polyester amino baking paint or polyurethane topcoat (dry film thickness 30-45 μ m).


·Flash evaporation at room temperature for 15 minutes.


·If the topcoat is polyester amino baked paint, bake at 120 ℃ for 30 minutes.


·If the topcoat is polyurethane coating, bake at 80 ℃ for 45 minutes.


·Let it stand at room temperature for one day.

·Disperse the above components for 1 hour.




Storage conditions


·Keep away from heat and fire sources.


·Place in a cool and ventilated place, keep the container tightly sealed.  


·The storage environment is below 25 ℃.
